Senior Portfolio Manager & Chief Compliance Officer
Berkeley is a Wealth Advisor, Senior Portfolio Manager, and Chief Compliance Officer of Sterling Financial
Group, an independent financial planning and investment advisory firm in Pasadena, California. He oversees the
investment management process at the firm, including asset allocation, manager research, strategy selection, and
trading execution. Berkeley manages the firm’s compliance program, including periodic audits and annual
reviews, as well as ongoing compliance reporting. He also participates with current clients in investment
reviews to provide economic, market and strategy updates, as well as with prospective clients to explain how
investments are integrated in the firm’s financial and estate plans.
Berkeley has been in the Southern California financial services industry for more than a quarter century,
advising private clients on investments for the past fifteen years. Berkeley is a CFA charter holder and has been
active in the CFA Society of Los Angeles for the past twenty years, including seven years on its board of
directors, serving as that organization’s president from 2007 until 2008. Berkeley graduated from Duke
University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and earned his MBA in Finance from the University of
Southern California. He was an exchange student in southeast Mexico through a Rotary Club program and is
bilingual in Spanish. Berkeley lives in Pasadena with his wife, Kristin Techentin Harrison; they have two boys,
Ben and Willy, who attend college.
Berkeley is active in the community, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Eagle Advisor in his Pasadena based
Boy Scout troop since 2009 (he and both of his boys are Eagle Scouts). Berkeley was also a board
member of the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena from 2010 until 2018, serving as its Treasurer and Corporate
Secretary.
